I will accept all information you can give. Sorry, but the information I have and was told it is May 1970 ? I do not think so, but maybe. I cannot get the barrel codes and dates to match up. The serial number under the barrel, forward of the front swivel is #1479XX, and the receiver codes what I can make out is RR followed by a 31 or 81. I am trying to Time/date the rifle and I am having a hard time with current information. I have a Remington 513T commercial version, with a grooved receiver. 1968 it about has to be one of the last ones made, even maybe THE last one? Were it mine I would keep my research notes as 'provenance'!:D 513? You certainly have something worth keeping! It's going to be worth some $$$! Keep it as original as possible and don't quit on your research until you have accurately nailed it down? The information is out there somewhere, if it is Nov. Someone on the Remington Society's forum might be able to provide better answers. Who knows, the extra costs of compliance may have been the final nail in the 513's coffin. But what of the GCA '68 change? I can't tell you when in 1968 the law was passed but manufacturers certainly would have been given time to comply. If your barrel is stamped 'RR' it was most likely made Nov, 1968. Are these production runs? Assembly stations? Ya got me! I have no clear idea of what that means but my 1941 is assembly '11' and my 1962 is assembly '47'. The letters tell you the month and year of production. There are probably a few 513Ts out there with numbers on the receivers but most will be on the barrel. The GCA of '68 changed the location of the serial number but that was also the last production year for the rifle.

Both have the serial numbers on the underside of the barrel in front of the fore stock. I have a 1941 example and a 1962 example.
